Legend has it that sandalwood brings one closer to the divine. It has a cooling, soothing effect on the body and thus results in reducing body heat. Sandalwood grows freely in India and Sri Lanka at altitudes of 4,500 feet. The bark of sandalwood which is white in colour on the exterior, transforms into its more familiar reddish hues once it is cut.

Turmeric paste has traditionally been used to keep hair superfluous. Its antimicrobial properties make it a key ingredient in Ayurvedic remedies. It is also said to improve the skin and is touted as an anti-aging agent. It grows abundantly throughout Sri Lanka.
